3rd year vines with new plantings in b'ground

La Clarine Farm>Vineyard

Our vines are located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Somerset, California on steep hills with various exposures.  Our elevation is 2600 feet.  We grow Tempranillo, Tannat, Syrah, Grenache and a few rows of Cabernet Sauvignon.  The soils are thin, decomposed granite, with some areas of red clay.  Native flowers and herbs grow between the vines, enriching the soil and providing a diverse ecosystem..

We farm using principles first laid out by Rudolf Steiner and further developed by many others.
We also find inspiration in Masanobu Fukuoka's "do-nothing" method of natural farming, allowing Nature to do its
work and restoring a balanced fertility to the ecosystem.
We aim to "do more by doing less", allowing our site's natural flavors and textures to emerge..
